Fresh Faces in a Familiar Outfit
The last time I saw Thundermother was back in the summer of 2022, on Liseberg’s smaller stage. A lot has happened since then. The band went through a major line-up change the following year, leaving guitarist and founding member Filippa Nässil as the sole remaining original member.
Some of the former members have since formed The Gems, who I also had the pleasure of covering earlier this summer.
Seeing Thundermother again in 2025 therefore felt like catching up with an old friend in new company — familiar, yet refreshingly different.
The current Thundermother line-up:
- Filippa Nässil (guitar, backing vocals)
- Majsan Lindberg (bass, backing vocals)
- Linnéa Vikström (lead vocals, rhythm guitar)
- Joan Massing (drums)
Same Blueprint, Fresh Energy
Despite the personnel changes, Thundermother’s musical DNA remains intact. It’s still that classic, riff-heavy rock with attitude — more party than angst, and more headbang than heartbreak, if you will.
Filippa Nässil, as always, stood like a rock at the centre of it all. Every riff landed with precision, every solo had bite, and her upbeat, mischievous energy was contagious. She radiated the same genuine joy she’s always been known for — a true leader on stage.
New vocalist Linnéa Vikström showed no signs of nerves despite being relatively new in the role since 2023. Confident, charismatic, and playfully rebellious, she brought a lot of character and charm to Thundermother — an invigorating burst of mischievous, punky energy that suited the band perfectly. Her chemistry with Filippa was undeniable as well — both exuding that cheeky, carefree energy that makes Thundermother such a joy to watch. Adding rhythm guitar on several tracks, her white Gibson Flying V matched Filippa’s Gibson Explorers perfectly. Could you ask for a more rock’n’roll pairing?
Rhythm, Warmth and Connection
Bassist Majsan Lindberg brought balance and warmth to the mix. Having appeared alongside her partner Dregen (of Backyard Babies and The Hellacopters fame) in social media, as well as on stage with Ronny & Ragge earlier this summer, she was already a familiar face to some fans.
On stage, she alternated between grooving at the back and stepping up to the front with a wide smile, often locking in with drummer Joan Massing, who played with both force and flair. Together they anchored the show with solid, high-energy rhythm work.
Above all, the band looked like they were having a blast — and the crowd caught on. Pustervik buzzed with good vibes and a full crowd, but the mood stayed easy-going — perfect for snapping some photos.
Dirty & Divine Takes the Spotlight
The tour comes in support of Thundermother’s latest album Dirty & Divine (released February 2025), and that was clear from the setlist: eight of the album’s ten songs made it in. It felt like a natural move — this is a new chapter for the band, and they owned it with confidence.
Supporting Thundermother on the tour are FELIN and Crown Electric — and we’ll be sharing photos from their sets soon, so stay tuned!
The band also mentioned that the show was being recorded for a live album — definitely something to keep an eye out for.

A Thunderous New Era
Thundermother 2025 may look different, but the spirit remains the same: loud, unapologetic, and full of joy.
If this show at Pustervik is anything to go by, the band’s future looks every bit as thunderous as its past.
