Singing in the Rain at Herrljungafestivalen
When you think of Skellefteå, those of us who grew up in the 90s might recall indie darlings The Wannadies. For younger generations, however, the name that comes to mind is Myra Granberg – one of Sweden’s most charismatic and fast-rising pop stars.
Even if you’re not usually tuned in to Swedish pop, you’ve probably heard her irresistible hit “Lose My Mind” from the 2021 album Andra sidan är ni klara (“Other side, are you ready?”). Don’t be fooled by the English title — the song, just like the rest of her music, is sung in Swedish. That song truly established her as a household name, following earlier successes with hit singles like Tills mitt hjärta går under (“Until my heart breaks”) and HKF (Håll käften och försvinn) (“Shut up and leave”).
Arriving at Herrljungafestivalen’s main Southside Stage, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. My own familiarity with Granberg’s music didn’t extend much beyond her biggest hits. Yet as the clock approached 8 p.m. and she appeared on stage — rain beginning to drizzle over the crowd — it became clear within minutes that I was in for something special.

Dancing Through the Downpour
The show kicked off under a curtain of rain, but Myra Granberg radiated enough warmth and energy to make the gloomy weather feel almost cinematic. The falling droplets even added a dramatic touch to the concert photos — a lucky break rather than a nuisance.
Granberg owned the stage from the start. Her performance was vibrant, confident, and full of contagious joy. With boundless enthusiasm, she engaged with the crowd, smiling, jumping, and moving across the stage like she’d been born there. And just when it seemed she couldn’t get any closer to her fans, she literally did — stepping down into the audience, letting them sing along and share in the moment.
It’s a move not every pop act would dare, and it brought to mind the unrestrained energy of Miss Li, another Swedish powerhouse known for turning every live show into a celebration.

Above Expectations – and Then Some
By the end of her set, any scepticism I had before the show had long since dissolved. Myra Granberg delivered a performance that was not just energetic but genuinely heartfelt — a reminder that pop music, when done with this much sincerity and charisma, can feel every bit as vital as rock or punk.
Backed by a guitarist, a drummer, and a bassist who occasionally switched to keyboards, her songs also gained an extra edge and sense of dynamics that made the live experience feel more organic and alive.

A Festival Lineup That Delivered
Herrljungafestivalen deserves credit for curating a strong and varied lineup this year. Alongside Granberg’s bright and polished pop show, acts like Browsing Collection, Division 7, and Tomas Rimeika brought their own high-octane energy to the festival grounds. But on this rainy Saturday evening, it was Myra Granberg who truly shone — the kind of artist who turns bad weather into a backdrop for something unforgettable.
