Tjuvjakt – Herrljungafestivalen: Closing the Night with a Bang

Tjuvjakt live at Herrljungafestivalen 2024
Sweden’s rap collective Tjuvjakt closed Herrljungafestivalen 2024 with a confident, high-energy set built on tight beats, quick rhymes and a slick DJ-driven production. Their mix of pop-flavoured hip-hop and theatrical flair turned the Southside stage into a showcase of modern Swedish rap at its most engaging.

Formed in 2012 on Lidingö, Stockholm, Tjuvjakt has grown from a local rap group into one of Sweden’s most distinctive hip-hop acts.

Mixing clever wordplay, melodic hooks and a dose of humour, the five-piece – Fredrik “Woodz” Eriksson, Olle Grafström, Jesper Swärd, Arvid Lundquist and Kid Eriksson – are known for energetic live shows and hits like Tandtråd, Tårarna i halsen, and Apelsinskal.

Impressively Packed Crowd

As the final act of Herrljungafestivalen on 24 August 2024, Tjuvjakt took over the large Southside stage to an impressively packed crowd. The turnout felt more like a city event than a small-town festival, and the group made sure to deliver on that scale.

Between songs, sharp sound effects – including gunshots – tied neatly into their name (“Tjuvjakt” translates to poaching or thief hunt) and gave the show a playful, cinematic edge.

In a Haze of Light and Smoke

The performance unfolded through thick fog and flashing lights, creating an atmosphere that was both dramatic and elusive. The heavy smoke made the band appear and vanish in bursts, turning the stage into something of a hunt in itself – a fitting metaphor.

Photographing the concert was a challenge; visibility was low, and editing later revealed just how difficult the conditions had been. Most images ended up in black and white, capturing mood rather than detail – a visual echo of the show’s mystery.

A Fitting Finale

Tjuvjakt’s set closed the Herrljunga festival on a high note. With bold production, crowd energy and a confident sense of identity, the group proved that even in a smaller setting, they can deliver a show that feels far bigger than its surroundings.
